"Your Success . . .  Our Bottom Line!”

Dear NAIFA-Spokane Members,

On Feb. 14th we held a joint 3 hr. CE on Ethics with the Spokane Chapter of the Society of Financial Services Professionals where David M. Bailey from NAIFA – Spokane gave a great presentation. Thank you SFSP members for the opportunity to join you once again and for hosting this meeting!

Our next meeting will be held on March 19th and will be at the Moran Prairie Library, 6004 S. Regal St. Registration will begin at 9:00 am with the meeting scheduled to run from 9:30 to 11:30 am. We will serve refreshments consisting of coffee, juice, donuts and fruit.

This is one meeting you won’t want to miss!! We’ve all heard of identity theft, but do we really understand the impact it has on our business and our clients? We have two special speakers lined up to speak on this sensitive subject. Our first speaker is Darla Klovski, a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist (CITRMS) certified through the Institute of Fraud and Risk Management representing the Group Security Division of Pre-Paid Legal Services. Darla has been with Pre-Paid Legal Services Inc. for over eight years and holds every certification Pre-Paid Legal offers including the certification to present their Affirmative Defense Response System. The Affirmative Defense Response System was designed to help businesses significantly reduce their risk and liability with regards to all the new identity theft legislation.

Darla will educate us on Identity theft, the laws and what the requirements are. These new laws have very serious ramifications for businesses and statistics show that 87% of businesses are unaware of the laws and how they are impacted by them. The laws are FACTA including the new Red Flags Rule (which went into effect Jan. 1 2008 and with compliance required by Nov.1, 2008), HIPAA and Gramm Leach Bliley (GLB).

Our second speaker will be Larry M. Vierra of Advanced PC Solutions, LLC. Larry has 23 years of expertise in information technology and is a PC/Technology expert. He formally served as a Computer/Network Specialist for the Deschutes County Sheriffs Office for 8yrs. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Information Systems from Linfield College in Oregon. He also formed a computer forensic lab for the Deschutes County Sheriffs Office.

There is no charge for this meeting and we encourage you to invite any of your office staff working with sensitive non-public information and computers to attend with you since these laws concern them as well. Be sure to RSVP soon so we can plan for seating and refreshments. This meeting is also open to non-members at no charge so invite a guest to come and see what we have to share with them and the value of our association. Email to dave@kofcagent.com or call 362-1714 to register by 3/17/08.

Our 6 hour jumbo CE Will be held on April the 16th at the Longhorn BBQ on highway 2 top of the Sunset Hill. It is titled “The Financial Process and the Products Involved”. We will have 3 to 4 speakers cover both the Process and how to use the products we sell every day to fill the needs of our clients. A Registration Form and Flyer will be forwarded about the middle of March. Keep an eye on your email and your snail mail. Registration will start at 8:30 am and the seminar will conclude by 4:00 pm.

Sincerely,

Randy R. Kimm, LUTCF
